Days 310 to 312

Sunday today..staying at Flinders Ranges Caravan Park.

We had chicken and mushrooms with veges,

accompanied by a Cooper's Brewery Mild Ale.

On Monday we were late back for dinner as ther was a slight problem at Wilpena Pound.

The bus forgot to go and pick us up after a walk, and we

had to walk back to the information centre in the dark.

For dinner had toasted rolls with chicken,tomato, red onion and blue cheese,

with a Jacob's Creek Pinot Grigio.

On Tuesday we had a picnic lunch on the Strezlecki Track..

.it was very windy so we ate in the car.

For dinner we had vegetarian pasta. Lunch on The Strezlecki Track.

Days 303 to 309...Hahndorf to Port Pirie

Sunday night we had Thai chicken with veges, and strawberries and cream for dessert.


On Monday we had chicken sausages with spinach and pine nuts, with veges, accompanied by a bottle of SA Steeple Jack Moscato.

We went and visited Maggie Beer's farm in the Barossa Valley today...
here are some of our purchases.

We had pre dinner wine/beer with some of Maggie's pate, blue cheese and bickies.
Dinner was a quick hamburger after returning from Maggie's, and prior to the movies at Mount Barker....saw Letters to Juliette.


Wednesday was pizza with Hofbrau Munchen beer.

Thursday we were in Port Pirie. For dinner we had chicken cordon bleu on BBQ with veges,
plus a bottle of Five Judges Chardonnay.
On Friday night I didn't cook dinner.
We had Indian take-away from Port Pirie...yumm
On Saturday we had pasta and roast veges cooked in baby Q...
this was accompanied by a bottle of Jacob's Creek Tempranillo,
purchased from Jacob's Creek Winery.







Days 298 to 302

Dessert tonight was quarters of apple, pear and banana, lemon juice, dobs butter, brown sugar and drizzle of port....cooked in foil tray in BBQ.

Tuesday night we had lamb meat balls cooked on BBQ,
veges and macaroni...
enjoyed with a SA wine
Renmano River Breeze Chenin Semillon Chardonnay.
On Wednesday we had pork loin steaks on BBQ with roast veges and salad.

Today we tried camel burgers..quite lean meat, very much like beef but just a bit different..Accompanied by a Hardy's Nottage Hill Riesling 2009.

Friday we had sun-dried tomato and pistachio chicken rolls in BBQ with boiled new little spuds( from Hahndorf fruit market), pumpkin, broccoli, with sour cream on top, served with
The Creek Station, SA 2008, Semillon Sauvignon Blanc.
The only thing I cooked today was porridge for breakfast.
Today we went and saw Hans Heysen's gallery and property in Hahndorf.
We went to The German Arms for lunch with old friend, Jane,
then went back to her place at Mount Barker for Pasta.

Days 291 to 297

On Mothers' Day we were in Robe. Dave took me out to The Caledonian Inn where we had a delicious lunch.
On Tuesday we had eggs, bacon and tomato on toast.
Dave had some left-over lamb chops with his.
On Wednesday we went out to Dino's Pizza in Port Campbell.
I had Persian...pears and walnuts- yum! Dave had Capricio...a meaty pizza.
On Thursday we had bream in foil on the BBQ with veges.
On Friday we had a marinated lamb roll with baked veges.
We used up the rest of our fruit and veges, as you can't take fruit and veges into South Australia.
On Saturday we had T-bone steaks on the BBQ with veges- enjoyed with a bottle of Cab Merlot.
Sunday was Mothers' Day...we were in Robe SA tonight.
After the big lunch we had a simple meal of cheese, tomato and onion rolls, toasted in the oven
On Monday we arrived at Goolwa.
For dinner we cooked a pizza in the baby Q, then dessert of apple, pear,banana, butter, brown sugar, red wine...cooked in foil dish in baby Q, with cream on top.
Dinner was accompanied by a bottle of Pinot Grigio.

Unfortunately there aren't many photos of meals this week...I guess we were too busy photographing everything else in sight...having a great holiday!!!




Days 284 to 290

Tuesday was our first night of cooking in Rosie... we had chicken with onion, can of tomatoes, and cheese on top...with a bottle of red.
Wednesday we had been driving a fair bit today, so had left-overs from last night on
halved bread rolls, in toaster oven, with cheese melted on top....with a bottle of Cab Sav.
Thursday we were at Castlemaine in Victoria.
We bought a New York steak from a gourmet butcher, and cooked it on the baby Q.
With it we had fresh cooked mushrooms, gathered this afternoon at the
Botanic Gardens next door to the caravan park.
There were hundreds of them growing under the trees.
Freshly picked mushrooms!

Friday night. After an interesting day in Castlemaine, we had sausages on BBQ with tomatoes, avocado, mushrooms, onions...enjoyed with a beer.

On Saturday we were at Ballarat, ready for Soverein Hill tomorrow. for dinner we had steaks on the BBQ with baked potatoes, mushrooms, avocado and tomatoes. For dessert we had strawberries in raspberry yoghurt...all enjoyed with a bottle of Rose.



Days 280 to 283

On Friday we drove to Bryan and Kathy's. When we arrived she had made lentil soup with chorizo sausage plus damper.

Saturday was Nigel's 60th birthday at Forrester's Hotel in Sydney...great night, great finger food!

On Sunday Kathy cooked a roast leg of lamb and veges, plus self-saucing caramel pudding for dessert...delicious!

Monday was ANZAC Day holiday, so we stayed with Bryan and Kathy an extra day before settin out on holidays. Kathy cooked curry and rice for dinner plus rhubarb and plums and some left-over caramel pudding with custard.

Tomorrow we hit the road and I'll be cooking again.

Days 276 to 279

This afternoon we drove to Wally with Rosie on the back, ready for our trip to Adelaide.
We stopped off at Bi-Lo in Tenterfield on the way and bought a cooked chook to have for dinner along with baked potatoes, sour cream and tomatoes.
The chillies at Wally were ready to be picked, so I picked them ,
char grilled them and bottled them in olive oil.
They will go to Adelaide too!

Thses veges were baked in the oven with a little olive oil,
when cooked cream, salt and pepper were added,
then served with penne pasta.

Days 265 to 275

On Thursday we had 1/2 baked marinated chicken with baked potatoes, sour cream and salad.
The next day was my birthday.
Dave surprised me with lunch upstairs at the pub at South Grafton.
Flowers were waiting on the table.


That night, Tessa and John paid a surprise visit, and cooked dinner as well! John cooked the main course...steaks on bed of pumpkin, spinack leaves, pine nuts,grapes, with red wine jus.
Tessa bakes the beautiful chocolate birthday cake! Yum!
On saturday we had BBQ steaks with salad for lunch with Tessa and John.
For dinner we had eggs benedict and salad on toast.

Today we celebrated putting kent Street on the rental market.
Along with bottle of Moet we were given by Ray White on the purchase of the house,
we had marinated Greek-style buttereflied lamb on BBQ with roasted veges.

Tuesday night we had salmon and vegetables with penne pasta.

For mainly Music I made a banana coconut cake...
.recipe from "Like Grandma used to make".

On Thursday we had home-made pizza, with mango chutney, grilled eggplant, left-over potato, sauted onion, capsicum and pumpkin, roast lamb slices, olives, cheese,
and guacamole and sour cream to top it off.

On Thursday we had a couple of shed packs for dinner, as I was late home
after a car service in Lismore.
On Friday we had battered pearl perch fillets with salad.
Fresh mango in the salad was yummy...
we has lots of mangoes this year for a change.
Today I harvested lots of chillies from our backyard.
I put them on a tray in the oven at a very low temp,
with a wooden spoon keeping the oven door ajar,
for a few hours until they were crisp.
The dried chillies were then ground and put into jars.
I use them frequently in various dishes,
plus in a shaker to add a hot touch to a finished meal.
For dinner we had marinated chicken cutlets with cous cous.

Sunday night we had left-overs of Tapas sausages with salad and shed pack.













Days 260 to 264

Fettucine Boscaola


Sausage rolls and salad on Sunday.

Today we went to Toormina for Zac's 3rd birthday. I made a frittata to take with us.

Tuesday night we had a Mexican flavoured tajine with rice,
and guacamole and sour cream on the side.


Wednesday night we had penne pasta with chicken mince and veges with coconut cream.




Days 253 to 259

For dinner on Good Friday we had crumbed fish with salad and chips.


Saturday today...I made sausage rolls using chicken rissoles and frozen pastry.




The saussage rolls were served with mashed potato and kumara and peas,


with chilli sauce and sour cream.


On Sunday Dave was on a low-residue diet prior to a procedure in a couple of days, so we had jewfish baked in foil with mashed potato...rice and salad for me.



On Monday the low residue diet was still on...except it was now clear fluids.


I had a toasted chicken, cheese and tomato sandwich.


For mainly Music this week I made the good old 6 cup slice with dates and walnuts.



Dinner on Wednesday was lasagne and salad.

On wednesday we had left-over lasagne with salad.
On Thursday tessa was home for dinner. We had stuffed chicken rolls with veges.

Today I made hot cross buns as it was Good Friday.
I used the bread machine, and a wholemeal bread mix,
( added sultanas, cinnamon, nutmeg and rice bran oil,)
to make the dough, then shaped it into rolls.
